Hi, Mabuhay to the P.I.,
Angeles City is becoming more like Vegas, with a hotch -potch of building styles from Egyptian to Classic Dutch, often almost next door to each-other. Bars come, and many have a brief butterfly’s existence.
Perimeter Road is filling up with multi storey buildings - hotels and condos - filling the voids. How much longer before the old single storey hole in the walls have gone?
Some notable faces have left - Mark Smith of Roadhouse home to the U.S.A., and Dave Fisher to Subic.
A new Angeles City-Puerto Galera service has been started by Campbell's Beach Resort on Big La Laguna Bay, (you don't have to stay in their resort, although it is one of the nicest in Puerto Galera!). More details on the Puerto Galera page. E-mail bookings@angeles2puerto.com In Subic the new SCTex (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) is open, and journey times from Manila and Angeles are considerably reduced. A lot of new developments, with the Zanzibar Hotel now the Wild Orchic Resort, Sheavens have also moved into the old Mangrove, Wes' Dreamland is now open.
Mo is on the beach in a big way with Treasure Island in the old Beach Boulevard Cafe, Voodoo floating bar, Kokomos Beach Resort and much more. Including - since Tom's recent retirement - Dryden's Hotel...
The Tarlac extension brings La Union closer (timewise) cutting the hour + drive from Angeles to Tarlac dramatically.
In La Union the beach beckons, and some of the Angeles business groups are eyeing the huge potential there.
Tramps has been bought by new investors, and renamed Carousel.
Peter has sold Finnegan's and is looking for a buyer for Ma Tat's food shop & Footlights night club.
He wants - after 20 years in business in the Philippines - to have more time for himself and his family.
The asking price is more than reasonable, and must be one of the best chances to enter the Philippine tourist market! A turn-key operation includes the manager, chef, and fully trained staff. I have raved about the food here since it opened, and has to be the greatest opportunity on the beach! contact hime through the Finnegan's web-site www.finnegans.com.ph for full details. With Philippine Airways resuming flights from Manila to the newly refurbished San Fernando (La Union) Airport, and Cebu Pacific looking at regular services, a lot of the pain will be taken out of the journey to and from Manila.
The opening of the Thunderbird Resort and 9 hole golf course, complementing the new Fiesta Casino on Wallace, has added a new dimension to the area.
